Saturday 3rd May saw Gua Africa's inaugural Coffee Morning take place in the village of Blunsdon, Wiltshire, UK. The event was a great success raising £160 and introducing our work to the Blunsdon community.
As you can see from the above photo we were fortunate to receive some gorgeous cakes baked by local volunteers and enjoyed by the people of Blunsdon. Along with tea, cofee and cake the visitors could learn about Gua Africa's work from the posters and leaflets (and of course from Ruth and Kate Gumm who were on hand to talk to people). Visitors could also purchase necklaces made both locally in Blunsdon and all the way from Nairobi, Kenya along with hand painted gift cards from a very talented Gua volunteer!
A lovely morning was had by all that attended and it was such a success we have already committed to making the event a monthly occurance (on the first Saturday of each month). A huge thank you goes out to both the fantastic volunteers and of course the welcoming community of Blunsdon. See you next month!
If you have been inspired by our Coffee morning and would like to organise one in your local city, town or village let us know (firstname.lastname@example.org) and we will help you make your event as successful as ours. Coffee Mornings are easy to organise and if you are able to get the food and drink donated you are well on your way to making a great, social, fundraising event. In the next weeks we will be uploading a downloadable resource on our Resource page so please od check that out!
