In January we reported on the story of Nyamal, who having been offered sponsorship by Gua Africa had travelled to South Sudan in order to get the necessary passport, only to become embroiled in the conflict which erupted unexpectedly. Having arranged her safe evacuation back to Nairobi, we are now happy to report that Nyamal has enrolled at the Presbyterian University to study Journalism & Public Relations, and has settled into accommodation within the campus where she has already made many friends. Whilst still receiving treatment for typhoid contracted within the UN compound in Juba, Nyamal is returning to full health and is determined to make the most of the opportunity afforded to her – especially as she says that when in Juba she "didn’t think she was going to live to see this day".
Nyamal has also started getting to know her personal sponsor through email and we’d like to join Nyamal in thanking them for making this truly life changing opportunity possible.
