The second half of the year 2013 saw us forced into structural changes within the South Sudan team. Our employed engineer left to take up a great opportunity within a major oil company with infrastructure contracts across South Sudan. Due to illness we lost one of our three Board members within South Sudan. In recent months we have also been delayed by the need to re-register as an international NGO within South Sudan.
We are in the process of adding new members to the South Sudan Board, following which we will begin to advertise for a full time employee who will be based in Leer and focused on overseeing the Emma Academy project.
We continue to communicate with the local Leer community through our direct contacts on the ground. The local community have been supportive as we work through these issues and like us, they remain committed to seeing the Emma Academy become not just a working school but a treasured part of Leer society.
