Thuch Garang, one of the students sponsored under our Survivors of War programme, has recently won two awards at school. Thanks to a partial scholarship and financial support from his sponsor in the US, Thuch attends the prestigious Laiser Hill Academy, one of the best schools in Kenya. He is due to take his O Level examinations this summer, and has been spurred on by winning 1st position for Academic Achievement in his form, as well as being named Hardest Working Prefect.
Like all our other Survivors of War, Thuch was forced to flee his homeland during a long and bloody civil war, leaving his family behind him. He completed his primary schooling in the refugee camp in Kakuma, NW Kenya, making his academic performance at school all the more remarkable. He boards at Laiser Hill school and stays at the Gua funded accommodation in Nairobi during the holidays. Thuch hopes to be able to continue his studies with the support of his sponsor and Gua Africa, and dreams of being a Doctor one day. We’re very proud of his achievements!
We have several other young students who are praying for a similar opportunity. If you would like to support one of them, please go the
